The Problem: Few Promo Resources for Telegram Channels

Workouts with several search engines unearthed few promo resources for quality English-speaking Telegram channels.
Many Telegram directories, like “Telegram Channels” featured at the top of a related Reddit page, no longer update. The granddaddy resource yanked its plug completely (503 error at tchannels.me). Others spew spammy get-rich-quick schemes. Some suffer submission glitches. Others choke potential interest with a deadly boring presentation.
Irked, I resolved: confront and cure.
This article outlines self-help maneuvers, buffered with teamwork (i.e. fellow Telegram Channel owners). We will:
build the contents of a new promo Telegram channel
support that channel and related new social network showcases
join, like, follow, and comment to ensure the vitality of each resource
By giving love, we’ll bask in its shadow, i.e. popular resource → eyeballs → potential enhanced support for participants.
The How

TL;DR: Ride existing (free!) tools.
You create a description, with photo, and post to a photo-friendly site.
You tweet that link to a dedicated account.
After review, I post it to a related social showcase. IFTTT triggers, auto-feeding your info to the @CuratedTelegram channel.
The Why
Our community craves a current English-only directory of quality channels. Likewise, the envisioned Telegram-based directory’s design must attract a reader’s attention, not repel it. When ya can’t find what ya want, improvise!
The Who: Telegram Channel Owners
For this maiden voyage, only channels are invited.
The What: TLC’d Promo Chores

TLC = Tender Loving Care.
As the @CuratedTelegram name suggests, this project provides no mere dumping ground. Rather, each submission will experience the ultimate algorithm — old-school human eyeball review. Quality channels = TLC treatment.
List of nope! channel types:
crypto, bitcoin, trading
get rich quick schemes
buy followers
pay me $$ and I’ll do…
the usual: hate, porn, etc
non-English language
1️⃣ The Standard (Lazy) Plain Text Submission
Typical promo: submit a plain text description directly to a Telegram-based resource. Result:

It gets the job done. But the onslaught of black text risks a 💤 Sominex effect. 💤 We wanna intrigue folks, not snooze ’em out.
Further, confining promo activities to Telegram itself cocoons the offering. Search engines bring traffic, as does Pinterest (and other premier social networks). Finessing, by interlinking, social resources requires focused creativity.
2️⃣ Arranging a More Enticing Channel Description

Linking to a photo-centric resource gifts eye candy which, in turn, knee-jerks visual interest.
Telegram’s powers include “Preview,” triggered only by a link. Preview caresses informative eye candy.
A second super-power, dubbed Instant View, loads a full article … within a blink!
The When:
Dedicated social accounts are now in place, as ✅ noted ✅.
The Where: Social Platforms and Blog Posts
🔸 Goal: Widen promotional reach by exploiting popular resources.
🔸 Method: One pic, sized per platform, for consistent your-channel cues
💡 Tip: Link to a specific post, not your social account’s base URL. The difference?

✅ Telegram channel: receives auto-generated links
@CuratedTelegram:

The next Gaining Access section details link creation.
✅ Instagram: Telegram text mirrors the caption
@Curated.Telegram:
🔛 instagram.com/curated.telegram/
Confining most hashtags to the first comment area yields a clean caption. That caption becomes the descriptive text when shared to Telegram.
You can glean the resulting flavor via this IG post, as captured by the Telegram channel I created for personal referencing.

✅ Pinterest: Telegram text reflects descriptive area
Curated Telegram Board:
🔛 pinterest.com/writesquire/curated-telegram
Consider this a premier target for one reason. Pinterest entries litter most Google search results. This showcase piggybacks on my board, to tap the established ½ million monthly visitors.

✅ Facebook Page:
@Curated.Telegram:
🔛 facebook.com/Curated.Telegram/

Facebook’s tortured history of ever-changing APIs and algorithms prevents reliance. Today’s smiling Facebook—IFTTT partnership may scowl tomorrow. Yet, the sheer audience size mandates FB’s inclusion in promo ventures.
My compromise: create a showcase-friendly Facebook Page. A Telegram Channel owner—who has a personal Facebook profile but no Facebook Page—can directly post (set to PUBLIC) a submission to the Page; it lands in a moderation queue. Those with an FB Page: send a FB DM to @Curated.Telegram, alerting me to your post (or just share to the Page timeline- haven’t tested so I don’t know if that works).
Bonus: the yellow highlighted segment = a clickable link!

Blogs
👉🏽 WordPress post: Telegram nestles the excerpt
Got a WordPress blog? Create a post, say, exploring behind-the-scenes creation info about your channel. This provides a teaching moment; folks love free lessons.
Observe: a WordPress post, reflecting my manually entered excerpt, as it appears in my blog subscription Telegram channel, @WritesquireWP.

🤗 Medium.com post: auto-triggers Instant View

Two Telegram features propel unique entries.
When you provide a link to Telegram (here, IFTTT-generated), a Preview appears as shown in the pics above.
Telegram can also sport an Instant View button, appearing under the resource. One tap opens the FULL article, in a blink, courtesy of a template. The problem: this feature is so new, no one-size-fits-all template exists.
Think: all those blog themes out there, not to mention customized CSS sheets. This outta-my-league tech novice prowled for a work-around. Turns out, posts at Medium.com automatically trigger Telegram’s Instant View treatment!
Therefore:
Post a WordPress behind-the-scenes article. The article you're reading serves that purpose for the new @CuratedTelegram channel.
Post a short what-my-channel-offers article at Medium, more than a week after the WordPress publication. How? Tap upper right profile pic → Stories → Import Story at Medium, to pull in the WordPress article as a draft. Revise on Medium. Why? Avoids Google's duplication penalty.
Bonus: you automatically get a highly regarded backlink, inserted by Medium to your related WordPress post during the import process . Let the Hallelujah Choir sing, y'all!
Google vamooses an article duplicating another. While the topic—promoting a Telegram channel—will grace both WordPress and Medium, I drafted each from a different perspective, guaranteeing different content. Thus, no Google dupe penalty.
After creating a Medium account, I threw some words together for testing. Lesson: keep the excerpt around 20 words. (WordPress? 35 words)

💡Summary
Rather than one lonely linked locked within a Telegram-based resource, the outlined steps produce a series of links:
Instagram ( @Curated.Telegram), Pinterest (Curated Telegram Board), or both
Facebook via the @Curated.Telegram Facebook Page
your blog
your blog post at Medium.com
Except for a non-Medium blog, each enjoys a super-duper high Page Rank, as well as a luscious degree of Domain Authority. Read: Google bows!
Sample workflow:
🔸 WordPress post → share as Pinterest pin
🔸 Pinterest pin → IFTTT → @Curated.Telegram channel
🔸 Instagram post → IFTTT → @Curated.Telegram channel
🔸 Facebook, Medium post → tweet per provided entry key
🔸 My tweet → Twitter audience → IFTTT → @Curated.Telegram channel
Accessing the Curated Telegram Resources

✦︎ Why the Lock-Down mode
Each resource (InstaGram, Pinterest, etc) lives in lock-down mode. Y'all know: too many crap resources sully the social landscape. NOT. Here!
Paraphrasing a maxim: a directory listing is as strong as its weakest link. As channel owners, we're judged by the company we keep, i.e. our neighbors within the directory listing. The lock-down vibe ensures Sammy Spammy and crew won't invade our 'hood.
✦︎ Gaining Access

- create a brief yet comprehensive description of your channel
- create a relevant picture
- post to your personal Instagram, Pinterest, Medium, WordPress, etc account
- tweet the link to me at a new dedicated account: @4mePamGtg
Suggested tweet format with pic included:
@handle <Telegram Channel Name> | <@UserNameOfChannel> | <abc do efgh ijk description.> See pic. URL (link hosting the pic with description)
To remain informed, follow that Twitter stream.
Example: if you tweet, say, an Instagram link, I'll push it or repost to the Instagram @Curated.Telegram account. IFTTT then auto-pushes my IG post to the @CuratedTelegram promotional Telegram channel on your behalf. When I tweet to trigger IFTTT, your @Twitter handle is included, thus notifying of my actions re your submission.
Bonuses flowing from this Tweet scenario:
my tweet informs Twitter about your channel
the linked resource itself serves as a juicy backlink
using the 3rd party link activates Telegram’s Preview mode, ensuring a visually rich entry in the Telegram promo channel / directory
A Quick Word about Photo Creation
In the world of photo manipulation apps, my personal cuz-it's-crazy-fast-easy fave = iPad's WordSwag (Android and iOS).
I open a pic in WordSwag. By tapping assorted sizes at the screen's bottom, I discern whether the pic nods to all networks. Some pics work well across the board, allowing a speedy WordSwag workflow:

Others coerce onerous additional work as you move from one size to the next. Apps like WordSwag empower discovery of, and trashing, problematic pictures early in the workflow.
Tip: if you don't want WordSwag to add text: tap Color; move the transparency bar to the far left; save.
